PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Biennial International Print Exhibition – Granville Island
BIMPE VII ARRIVES ON GRANVILLE ISLAND SEPTEMBER 6TH 2012!
199 ARTISTS FROM 31 COUNTRIES EXHIBITING 395 WORKS ARE FEATURED IN NORTH AMERICA’S LARGEST INTERNATIONAL MINIATURE PRINT EXHIBITION
BIMPE, the Biennial International Miniature Print Exhibition is a unique and exciting survey of original printmaking on a truly international scale. Works are selected by a jury of respected printmakers and arts professionals from across North America and the exhibition attracts the very best professional printmakers from across the globe. Images and themes are diverse, techniques range from traditional to contemporary and in addition to their excellence there is one constant: their size. The maximum image area is 10 x 15 cm (4 x 6 inches).
BIMPE was conceived over 12 years ago by Vancouver printmaker Peter Braune of New leaf Editions on Granville Island. He envisioned an international print exhibition where printmakers from around the world could see their work in a global context and viewers could appreciate and understand the diversity of printmaking. Despite a lack of public funding for a project like this, he carried on and to this day BIMPE VII remains self-sufficient and a tribute to the innovation of creative people in the arts and their ability to find a way if there’s the will.
